The mission of the Virtual Possibilities Network (VPnet) is to foster education, research, and development in the Inland Northwest by providing access to high-bandwidth data communications for innovation and collaboration. By connecting our region's higher education institutions with each other as well as with other educational-based organizations, research organizations and corporate partners, VPnet envisions a strong education consortium that rivals, if not exceeds, the power of our country's largest and most prominent education institutions. The goal of VPnet is to enable participating members to have access and connectivity to a highly available and reliable "private" high-speed fiber Internet for Inter and Intra-member collaboration around research, development, e-learning and business incubation that will have a direct economic benefit to the region. This collaboration creates the opportunity for grant income, increased enrollment hours, revenue inflows and new jobs for our region's economy. Where education institutions have traditionally operated in the interests of accomplishing their own individual departmental or institutional objectives, VPnet enables its members to develop joint objectives and goals, creating collaborative opportunities for securing grants, that a single department or institution could not pursue on its own. The primary objective of VPnet is to promote and foster economic development and growth in the Inland Northwest. VPnet will become a "fabric of the community", where it will be utilized by its members as a natural course of their research and development (R&D) activities, E-learning, and business incubation operations. VPnet is a sustainable and separate legal entity. As such, VPnet seeks to provide a level of service and value to its participating members, while maximizing the economic benefits to our region through the power of collaboration. |
